Spring in the Alps

I spent Easter in Brixen, Italy. What a lovely city! Although it was only the end of April, the warm and sunny weather made it feel more like early summer. Thus once again I couldn't help but photograph more flowers! All of the photos were taken using my Canon 28-135mm lens.

The above photo was taken in the vineyards near Kaltern, just south of Bozen. The mountain seen is Monte Roen (2116m), highest mountain of the Val de Nion, where we climbed the Roen klettersteig.

Unknown purple flowers seen at around 1600m on Monte Roen.

Lovely flowering cherry trees in Brixen.

Wisteria blooming near the monastery above Klausen.

Apple tree in Klerant, above Brixen.

The Alpine pasque flower (Pulsatilla alpina).

Pictured above is the stemless gentian (Gentiana acaulis), seen while hiking on Monte Roen.

Japanese Maple at the Guggerhof, a vineyard-restaurant located on a hill above Brixen.

Klematis (I think) in a garden in Brixen.

Insanely good apple strudel eaten while at the Guggerhof. Normally I am not a fan of strudels, as I don't like the typically heavy, lard taste of the pastry. This one was a revelation! Light and airy, with no raisins. And of course served with real whipped cream (this is Europe after all :)).
